A divalent acid ester is a compound that contains two acid ester groups (R-CO-O-R') in the molecule. An acid ester group is formed by combining a carboxylic group in an acid with an oxygen atom in an alcohol. In a divalent ester, two ester groups are linked to one carbon atom by sharing an oxygen atom.
They can be liquid or solid at room temperature and have lower volatility. Common divalent esters include diester dicarboxylate, diester malonate and so on.
