Isophorone. Also known as "1,1,3-trimethylcyclohexenone", scientific name 3,5,5-trimethyl-2-cyclohexen-1-one, is a six-membered ring The α,β-unsaturated ketone, chemical formula C9H14O, is a colorless to yellow volatile liquid with a characteristic odor (camphor/mint). Occurs naturally in cranberries. Insoluble in water, soluble in most organic solvents such as ethanol, ether and ace tone. See light to convert to dimer. It is oxidized to 4,4,6-trimethyl-1,2-cyclohexanedione in air.

Application

1. Used as a solvent for paints, inks, coatings, gums, resins, nitrocellulose and chemical synthesis intermediates, etc.,especially suitable for vinyl resins.
2. Mainly used in pesticides, coatings and can coatings. It is a high boiling point solvent for nitro spray paint and synthetic resin coatings. As a special paint thinner. Mixing with methyl isobutyl ketone can dissolve phenolic resin and epoxy resin.
