Colorless transparent volatile liquid. It has a pungent odor similar to ether. Soluble in about 50 times water, soluble in phenol, aldehyde, ketone, glacial acetic acid, triethyl phosphate, ethyl acetoacetate, cyclohexylamine. Miscible with other chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents and ethanol, ether and N, n-dimethylformamide. The relative density is 1.3266. Melting point -9 5.1ºC. Boiling point 40ºC. Spontaneous combustion point 640ºC. Viscosity (20ºC) 0.43mPa.s. Refractive index 1.4244. Critical temperature 245ºC. Critical pressure 6.171MPa. After pyrolysis, HC1 and trace phosgene are produced, which are heated with water for a long time to form formaldehyde and HC1. Further chlorination gives CHCl3 and CCl4.

Application Industries
1.In addition to organic synthesis, this product is also widely used as cellulose acetate film forming, cellulose triacetate wire drawing, petroleum dewaxing, aerosol and antibiotics, vitamins, steroids in the production of solvents, as well as metal surface paint cleaning degreasing and defilm agent.

2.In addition, it is also used for grain fumigation and refrigeration of low pressure freezers and air conditioning units.

3.It is used as an auxiliary blowing agent in the production of polyether urethane foam and as a blowing agent for extruding polysulfone foam.
