Dissolve in alcohol to form esters. Dissolved in dioxane. Sublimation by heat. Risk of burning in high heat, open flame or contact with oxidants. It's corrosive. It is slowly hydrolyzed in cold water to produce maleic acid. Contact with strong oxidants can cause combustion and explosion. If the temperature exceeds 66ºC, the polymerization reaction will occur in contact with amines or alkali metals.
